I wonder whether having taser might have stopped those Met officers from being injured…
I went to Russia some years ago and went out with the Russian Police. It was an experience.
None of the front line troops possessed a car, they simply couldn’t afford one. You had to be about the rank of colonel before you had your own car. Everyone lived in a flat. The job sent a truck round collecting officers from their flats at the start of the shift, and dropping them off at the end. The basic patrol car was the Lada, though the Gucci boys in the Moscow Traffic Police had nice shiny Ford Crown Victorias.
The road safety was somewhat different to the UK. In my time there we came across 2 fatal accidents. The body from one was laying in the central reservation as the traffic filtered through. It remained uncovered. And this was during the incident  and after the police arrived. No road closures, no scene preservation. Small shrines littered the roads, areas marked by small fences, almost like a personalised grave, they often contained parts of the vehicles, like steering wheels or tyres, presumably driven by the deceased.
Many drivers in Russia are now fitting dashboard cams to capture evidence in case they are involved in an RTC.
I think this is a couple of years old but I’ve not come across it before.
and the guy was spoken to after the event…
So a cop pulls over a car for speeding with two North American Indians on board, they attack him and get shot. Apparently both were imprisoned and the cop found to have acted lawfully.
This one is entitled “Ex marine knocks this fool out, what an idiot”.
I have no idea whether the guy is an ex marine or not, but he showed some remarkable restraint. Sometimes speaking to someone in language they can understand is the only way.
Officer Jeremy Henwood was killed in an unprovoked attack just six blocks from the McDonald’s, making it the last place he would have been seen alive, according to NBC San Diego.
Henwood is seen purchasing cookies for a 13-year-old young man who had approached him and asked him questions about his job — a small but generous act that speaks to the character of the fallen hero.
While Henwood’s patrol car was stopped at a stop sign, the driver of a black Audi signaled with his lights, apparently to draw the officer’s attention. The driver then pulled alongside the cruiser, lowered his front passenger-side window, leveled a shotgun and fired, striking the officer’s head.
The driver of the Audi, later identified as Dejon Marquee White, 23, turned out to be a suspect in a shooting minutes earlier in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in nearby El Cajon.
There is no evidence Henwood knew about the incident, authorities said.
This is a video by fellow police blogger Minimum Cover. It’s rather well done, and the music is great.
This motorcycle cop was escorting an ambulance in Holland in 2009. He was seriously injured but survived.
I’m not sure if we’ve had this one before, but to be honest I’m in such a hurry today what with one thing and another, that I’ve not had time to sort out anything for the blog.
I’ve been at work most of today so I haven’t seen any news coverage. How did we get on, lots of good coverage?
This is what it’s about. One of the most telling comments in the below vid is where a police inspector says that he would no longer encourage his son to join the job. perhaps if everyone felt the same and the message got passed on to the next generation of would-be-cops, the government might fonally get the message?
