Nearly There
Just a lazy quicky today….
nearly reached my 1 post a day for a whole year target, but more importantly, I’m now down to single figures for months left in service – whoppee!!
(and I’ve had my proper pension forecast at last, been walking round like a Cheshire Cat most of the day)
Plodnomore says:
Is your pension forecast the new one which now cancels out the difference between men and women’s commutation sums ( new equality legislation sometimes does come in handy). Any ideas what you’re going to do when you leave?

Yep, the newer, improved, non sex discriminatory forecast which added about 20grand to the total.
I have a couple of irons in the fire at the moment, too early to say much yet, though.

Will you tell us how much it is or is that abit too personal?

I guess it’s probably a matter of public record, anyone can go online to find out what I earn.
If I commute the full amount I’ll get a pension of about £17,000 pa & a lump sum of around £110,000

So in 6 years I might get £115,000 and £18.5 p.a. Not too shabby. If I live long enough to enjoy it!!

Plodnomore says:
Unless the regulations have changed, if you commute, you’ll be better off commuting as much as you can as any widows pension (perish the thought) will be based on the full pension amount and not the commuted amount so if you do pop your clogs, then your other half will not only have the full pension base but also any couple of quid left over from the commutation. You can’t lose. Well, YOU can, but you know what I mean! Here’s to a long and healthy retirement.
