Phew!

Posted in Blogging by 200

It started with an attempt to write a post every day for a month, this turned into 3 months and then six months. After I’d managed to post every single day for half a year I thought why not go on for a whole year? So I did.

That has turned into a post every single day for five years. I sometimes feel like Forest Gump who took up an idea and just ran with it, and kept on running.

To say this blog has formed a large part of my life is an understatement. Sometimes it’s been fun, interesting, though-provoking, other times it’s been like a millstone around my neck.

When you work a full shift system, have a family and private life and other interests, just finding the time to research, compose and post something is no mean feat. You’ll have noticed when I didn’t have time as that’s when I post up a quick video.

I’m quite proud of the fact that this is, if not the, certainly one of the longest running police blogs in existence, a few weeks over seven years. I’m not quite ready to give up the blog, so I’ll continue to post, but only when I have the time and inclination. I have no idea how frequently that will be, we’ll just have to see.

To all my readers, regular and otherwise, thanks for checking by and thanks for all your support and words of comment and encouragement over the last seven years.

Don’t give up yet… I’ve been a reader since 2008. In that time I’ve managed three different roles within the Police service, moving from PCSO to Controller to Police Constable.

Your blog helped me gain an understanding of the world of the Police that allowed me to succeed in everything I have done so far.

    Plus it’s a good laugh.

Admirable effort, and as has bee said previously, you have a bigger following than you may realise. Not all who read, post comments.

This is one of the first Police blogs I turn to when I want to be informed, humoured, astonished and aggravated at the ways that a profession I was proud to be a member of for 17 years is being treated in this country and how it differs in others. I do hope you keep blogging as the thought of no ’200 weeks’ is not something I would wish to contemplate. You are to be congratulated, sir. I salute you (the proper way, not the Met way!).

That’s good going 200! Well done old bean!

I don’t always (or even often!) agree with what you write, but I appreciate you taking the time to write it.

Brilliant blog. The only consistency I’ve found during my 6 years in the police service are your regular updates.

I hope you enjoy the opportunity to post out of choice and not necessity, and if you do choose to eventually go part-time I hope you enjoy the relaxation and freedom that will come with it.

Congratulations, still going after seven years is no mean feat, especially considering most people nowadays seem to go for the instant gratification of Facebook or Twitter (neither of which I subscribe to I might add).

You are always the first blog I look at of a morning and no doubt will remain so as I keep having a quick look to see if you have added a new post.

Congratulations. Like most of the previous commenters I don’t often contribute myself. I always read you and Gadget. I retired a year ago after 30 years on the front line. I wish I had the wit and intelligence to keep an interesting blog going for so long. From some of your comments and observations its as if i know you. I’m constantly trying to put a name to you!!!

It must be extraordinarily hard to come up with unique posts every day, it’s certainly beyond my ability!

    Enjoy your semi-retirement.

Well done for having reached that milestone. Thank you for your daily thoughts and posts. Your blog has been interesting reading over the years. It would be nice to be able to continue to read new entries on a regular basis, but you do have a life to lead and other interests to pursue.
