Get in!

Posted in Other Stuff by 200

Who can fail to be inspired by the work of the athletes performing for the world this week?

I’m loving the ¬†successes and efforts of the GB team. I guess¬†reveling¬†in the success of others is a reflection of the¬†disappointments¬†in my own life. I’ve always enjoyed playing sports but nothing of any significant level, unless you class playing for the first 15 at school a significant involvement in sporting success. Seeing them standing on the podiums and hearing the national anthem always brings a bit of a lump to the throat.

The cyclists truly are an inspiration, to see both the men and women getting golds and breaking world records, the rowing, the shooting, I’m loving it.

And still a week to go.

Come on Team GB!!!

Couldn’t agree more. Missing lots because of work, but what I have seen is inspirational. And the minority sports getting their time in the sun is particularly pleasing. The rowing has been great, Katherine Granger finally winning a gold, and Alan Campbell getting bronze after using all of his energy. Not an ounce of strength left in the poor bloke – what an effort. Steve Redgrave supporting him and him in tears getting his medal. Couldn’t ask for more (footballers take note)

It`s nice to have some British quirkiness to the games. Enjoying spotting all the spelling mistakes on the graphics, nice one Locog.

It`s hard not to get involved when these young people have worked so hard and might be having the best performances of their careers in front of the biggest audience.

I see all the ‘London 2012′ banners along the Triathlon course, miles and miles of it on the barriers and wonder how much it all cost (not out of grumpiness, just curious), will they Ebay it for mementoes at the end (before it gets nicked).

As the late Roy Castle once said: “If you want to be the best, and you want to beat the rest, dedication is what you need”.
