Jobs for the boys
So Tom Winsor’s legal firm advises G4S who are set to profit from entering the realm of law enforcement once forces sell out to private companies.
Tom Winsor gets the job of cutting the police budget by, in part, recommending selling off services to private industry and slashing wage bills.
Tom Winsor becomes the Home secretary’s preferred choice for the first ever appointment of a civilian Inspector of Constabulary.
I see that the cash for honours culture is alive and well in the government.

I think you’ll find that it’s just the cash-for culture, with no honour involved at all.
A certain Ms May for director of G4S anyone ?
You’d never guess a certain Mr Cameron got burned by the police in 1996 would you……

Our leaders have twigged that there is little we as voters can do except vote for the other shower of excrement. Democracy at it’s finest. Except it doesn’t matter which bunch of lying thieves, gets in. Makes your local bunch of pikys look honest.

Every “real” police blog has been saying the job is buggered for years. Every said police blog has been wholly contemptous of SMT and ACPO and the damage they’ve done to the job.
Well as IG said in his blog TW can’t be any worse – who knows maybe, just maybe, he might be preferable to another time expired CC. As I recall he stuck his neck out when the labour government decided to screw the “grannies” when they re-nationalised Railtrack without compo.
You never know he might actually do something right.I’m not holding my breath; I knew him way back and he while he wasn’t a warm human being and had a fine sense of the rightness of his viewpoint he was a terrier when he believed something was right.
At the end of the day we’re all agreed. The Job is buggered. Whatever else we need to look at how it can be unbuggered (and it’s got to be part of a wider picture: sentencing, benefits culture,”ooman rights”, imported criminals, un-deportable criminals, I could continue for several pages – the whole range of 1960′s PC crap that’s got us to the sorry state we’re in now.
At the end of the day I don’t think TW will be the answer but to get to the answer (and without babies and bathwater) we needs something different, something to break the PC mould, something which is not the same old same old career ACPO types we’ve had for the last 30 years or more.
