Where are the tools for the job?

Posted in The Job - General by 200

Five police officers were mauled by a Pitbull-type dog in London today as they tried to arrest the owner for GBH and kidnapping.

There is some video of the attack on the Guardian website.

Officers were forced to use the best weapon the government provides to defend themselves with, their feet, as they ran away and jumped on walls and cars to get out of the reach of the vicious dog which hospitalised all five officers.

The dog was shot and killed by firearms officers. The injured officers were lucky they are in the most heavily armed force in the country; if they’d been in my force the dog might have died of old age before any officer with a gun came near it.

Jenny Jones comments on this were a good example of political bullshit given she opposed the issue of tasers in the first place.

Routine arming of all front line police officers please

Regardless of tasers, fazers or slow/fast to arrive Glocks, somehow, somewhere, someone or some intel’ system let those guys down very badly indeed. A horrific experience. Been to one of those and was grateful for the electrically charged shield (probly now banned as an instrument of torture).

Been to one of those 2 of us still probies, concern for safety, old lady collapsed in back garden with a very aggressive GSD cross which was most intent on not letting us anywhere the lady, plenty of advice over the PR, hit it with a shovel, dont think a plastic one would have done much, gas it, doesnt work on dogs.
We got the lady out to the ambulance, eventually, 5 mins with no harm to anyone

The de brief from the inspector was ” I dont give a F**K if you get bitten, next time you go straight in.

Perhaps in my short service of 6 years, there were only two times I wish I had a taser, that was one. You can’t reason with a out of control aggressive dog.

Hope the injured officers make a speedy recovery

Round our way two of these dogs escaped from the local (potential libel deleted) house and attacked the dog of a mum taking her daughter to school. Two other mums, also dropping off their ten-year-old daughters, fought them off, one went to hospital. It was all over by the time the police were anywhere near.

Routine arming of all mums please.

Tasers are not what British Police need: you need firearms.
