Well HR bods assure me that it takes 6.5 people to provide constant 24hr 7 days a week cover of 1 person.
Therefore work out how many people you need at any one time
then multiply by 6.5

We have a couple of officers on long term sick at the moment, which means other officers get moved to cover. This is the most efficient way logisitcs could come up with to solve last night's shortages:
Move 1 officer from my team (at station A) to cover another station (Station B), 27 miles away.
Move an officer from Station C to cover my station, 35 miles away.
Station B and C are 8 miles apart!

I decided to move the officer from Station C to cover station B and keep my officer where they were.

Saving to the force in expenses - £49.60.

I thought we had no money!

200, the first two lines of the second paragraph made me think. Surely you're not that absent minded? To keep you up to speed, there are two places on the upper part and one place in the middle part that you really should be, always, aware of. Just ask your wife!

Hey, I'm not after sympathy, I'm bit and ugly enough to cope without it.

And the three months is a bit of a red herring anyway, it's not the fact that I only get 3 months notice, it's the fact that I need to change shifts at all.

They should be able to run a chip shop without the need to change people's shifts at all, it started creeping in as they shed jobs and now it is common practice.

The 3 months is really irrelevant, except that under the terms of my employment - which states I have a rostered & predefined shift pattern - 3 months is the cut off point below which they have to offer financial compensation.
