Scum of the week

Posted in The Job - General by 200

This week’s award for the ‘Scum of the Week’ (© 200weeks) goes to a Mr Mason from Bolton, who stole almost £40,000 from his family to fund his crack & heroin habit.

The 34-year-old stole a savings account card from his 84-year-old grandfather withdrew almost 26 grand between October 2009 June this year.

He then stole his mother’s cash card & withdrew 13 grand.

The Halifax repaid the grandfather but Santander declined to refund the mother.

Mason was sentenced last week at Bolton Crown Court to a suspended 12 month prison sentence & drugs rehabilitation course after his mother told the court she did not wish to see her son jailed.

I sympathise with those who had their cash stolen – but did the victims just turn a blind eye to the theft? With any normal cash card withdrawl limit, it would take ages to siphon off 13K. I couldn’t loose that money and not notice.

And to be fair to Santander, they are only a small local up-and-coming concern. There`s no way they can afford to repay nearly £15,000, even to a long-standing loyal customer like Mr Masons mum. Do you think they`re made of money? Do you know how much it costs to run 13,696 branches and look after 90 million customers world-wide?

Now, if Santander claimed that their “strength and stability is built on the relationship we have with our customers” or that “you will enjoy the benefits this relationship brings” or even “We are committed to offering a better service for all our customers”, maybe I`d have more sympathy with Mrs Mason.

Scrounging wasters like Mrs Mason have to realise how bloody lucky she was that Santander allowed her to bank her money with them in the first place.
