Cops & robbers

Posted in Videos by 200

I have no idea if this guy was a robber or not, to be fair, but he suffered the consequences of firing guns at police officers. The officers were cleared of any wrong-doing.

Out here (I’m still getting used to seeing routinely armed officers), if a civilian uses a firearm in a threatening way, they’re taking their chances. If they fire at police officers, the police will often fire back. The offenders know the risks and the consequences – it’s an application of free will.

A few days ago in a township to the North of me, a man fired a gun at another man in a pizza shop, following which he ran into a nearby wooded area. A few hours later he broke cover as a police car went by and opened fire. The officer inside is a firearms instructor. Guess how that ended.

Ultimately, I feel a fair bit safer here, knowing that if I need the local police, they’ll be here within a couple of minutes and will be armed. My old hometown in the UK was chav-infested and, on any given Saturday night, the “visible police presence” was a chap on a mountain bike, wearing high visibility riding gear. Not terribly comforting.

Seems to me to be suicide by police. Anyone discharging a weapon at armed police gets all they deserve.

The dashcam video caught the moment officers shot a suspect who was going to be questioned about leaving the scene of a car crash. The officers were placed on paid administrative leave but were later cleared. Police say toxicology reports showed there was alcohol and marijuana in the suspect’s system. http://abclocal.go.com/kfsn/story?section=news/national_world&id=7164941
