  1. Dr Melvin 'Banned from most police blogs' Gray says:

We are culturally imbued with slightly better self control but the negative police attitude giving rise to the syndrome, is already here.

  2. Brother Random says:

It didn’t seem very ‘High Speed’

When did the shooting occur? Was it 3/4 of the way through the video where the Van looks like it’s about to try and squash 2 officers against the wall as it’s got stuck in a parking space?

To be honest I’d feel pretty damn threatened if somone tried to drive a truck at me while I had my back to a wall.

  3. war machine says:

The pursued man had many opportunities to surrender, instead of which he endangered the life of officers. If anything, this is “suicide by cop”.

California’s a bit of an odd place, apparently – that section of the West coast tends to be a little more unpredictable than the East. I would presume that officers have very little idea of what substances or weapons might be involved.

Mind you, using a car as a battering ram might be an indication that the driver doesn’t want to go quietly…

They may have been judged to have acted in self defense but I think they could’ve gotten out of the way and therefore it was excessive force. They were doing an adequate job of ramming his vehicle. I wasn’t there, I have no idea but from what I saw – it was execution.

Melv may have a point (in this case) … but unless you have experienced the adrenaline hit (negative hit) its hard to understand how it affects your behaviour…

Its like combat… when you are in a kill or be killed or a very dangerous situation (at the hands of the the person you catch) you are not normally disposed to act all friendly like…

A marginal concession but very decent of you all the same, Shijuro.

I expect more adoration on Copperfield’s blog in response to my patronising comments which sprang into spontaneous existence today. Only a sweet nature would take time to write such pleasantries and credit me as originator.

When ordered by the police to stop, you stop. Anything stupid that you do from that point on is your own fault.
