Two pieces of silver, I mean bronze

Posted in The Job - General by 200

Welcome to the ‘Scum-of-the-Week Show’.

Latest entry into the 200weeks Scum of the Week Hall of Fame goes to the pondlife who desecrated a war memorial in Manchester because it had 2 pieces of bronze which they could steal for nothing & sell for £150 rather than get a fucking proper  job.

The memorial, dedicated to local people killed in World War One, was paid for by a door-to-door collection & listed the names of 215 people with more honour in their dead toenails than the scum who nicked the plaques will ever have.

No doubt that august body – scarp metal dealers – will immediately alert the police when the thieving scum come in to claim their ill-gotten financial reward.

Aye, it occurs to me that scrap metal theft could be reduced greatly, if not stamped out altogether by repeatedly raiding scrap dealers, or even semi-permanently posting PCSOs or Special Constables in the dealers’ offices, to check on what comes in and where it is coming from. A few confiscations and lengthy investigations of scrap dealers thought to be receiving stolen goods ought to make the lot of them a lot more questioning about where scrap cable and so on comes from. Requiring proper record-keeping and stipulating that the scrap-dealer keep a full-face photograph of everyone who sells him scrap metal might also help a great deal.

….that noise! I thought it was only around where I live, its not. It appears to be the national anthem tune for our Sunday Morning Merchants.

Ever heard of Noise Abatement Act? Was, and probably still is, an offence to use a loudspeaker on a vehicle, except for certain exceptions. Blowing the Ragman’s Bugle was not one of them.

200, you`re spot on. People who nick lead off a church roof I might just about live with. But taking lists of fallen soldiers from war memorials is well over the line.

There must have been plenty of crims over the years who ‘found’ scrap metal in unexpected places, but even they wouldn`t go near a war memorial.

You just can`t get the same quality of criminal these days.

    Broken Britain.
