Personal Blogging Record

Posted in Blogging by 200

I’ve just realised I’ve made one post every day for a month. Phew!

I have to say it’s an awful lot of work. I’m spending my day wondering what the bloody hell I’m going to talk about. I’ve read more papers in the last few weeks than I have all year up ’til then. But I have to say I’ve enjoyed it.

Part of the reason I wanted to give it a go was to see if I could garner some extra involement from my readers in the form of comments. Most of my entries have comments you could count on the fingers of a half-eaten Kit-kat (or less) so the jury’s still out on that. I also wanted to see if it increased the amount of people visting.

Unfortunately, the stats plug-in I’ve been using for the last 18 months seems to slow the site down. I turned it off a couple of days ago and it appears that maybe the site is now loading more normally. I added a new stats plugin which is supposed to use far less load on the site so it will take me some time to see if readership is up.

Can I just take the opportunity to thank those of you who continue to read my blog (even if most of you are silent). If you’re a new reader, let me know and tell me how you found my blog.

I’m not promising to blog every day from now on, but I have a few ideas for the next few days so I’ll see how it goes.

Oh, and to WhichEndBites – yes you’re right it’s now much less than 200 weeks to go, quite a lot less. I don’t know when you get your resettlement courses but the lunches on ours are very good.

Hi there, sorry for not leaving name. Can’t be too careful online these days, especially when actually admitting to being a police officer, as opposed to the bland ‘civil service’ response I usually give.

I’m a serving Constable in Northern Ireland, nearly out of my probation, working front line response and loving it: for the sheer lunacy of the situations I get put in and have to sort out, then write up. I had thought about blogging my own experience when I started but I think the firm would resist that and intervene.

I found your blog from a link on Belfast Peeler, which I found when I was searching online for some kit, which is odd because I’m totally against buying my own kit. Excellent reading throughout here, with just the right level of cynicism but without the typical negativity of the more senior Cons.

I used to be a civil servant and I can see a lot of the same cultural issues (i.e. talking bollocks) but still love experiencing, reading about and discussing the nonsense decisions from the idiots upstairs.

Policing is the same no matter where it is. It wouldn’t be fun if it was easy. Keep up the good work.

Don’t get down hearted 200 (or much less now). Most people read the blogs but don’t like to leave comments as they don’t want to get caught out making any negative references which may impact on their careers.
The biggest bloggers only post a couple of times a week. Thats eenough to keep people interested (except bloggsy who goes everyday- how does she do it???)
BTW, you are running at normal speed again so I guess it must have been your plug in thingy.

Hi 200, I read your blog all the time, well I check it everyday in my lunch hour. It’s great, keep up the good work. I don’t normally post comments because I hate feeling as if I’ve just reiterated your point and not really contributed anything to the post.

I will probably hve to pay for my lunhc when it comes along between 4 and 30 months unless economies have withdrawn it altogether. You might have to invite me round for dinner.

I have had problems with a stat counter, I get nowt showing on the counter but numbers of hits on site analysis. Confusing but at least someone still has a look.
