It takes 7 minutes…

…just for the vehicles to pass. I’m a sucker for remembrance videos.

Can anyone imagine something like this happening in the UK?

  1. War Machine 2112 says:

Last year, in the US city I moved to, three officers were killed in the performance of their duties. The public reaction was (to me) stunning. The whole region had a sense of loss and was horrified by the event.

The officers were given a service of rememberance in the city’s cathederal and were ceremonially added to the region’s roll call of fallen colleagues on a memorial wall.

The region came to very nearly a total stand-still.

It’s because in this neck of the woods, the police are members of the community they police and are appreciated as such, instead of being treated as some form of enemy within.

It might all seem a bit 1950s, but it’s as I think it should be.

Crikey! I thought that my mates’ funeral – who were killed at Braybrooke Street, Shepherd’s Bush, in 1966 – was something, but this………….

We probably don’t have that many vehicles in a county!
