Sense of Humour Failures

Posted in The Job - General by 200

I don’t know if the following story is true or is one of those apocryphal tales which when told often enough becomes urban legend.

I’m told that a Met PC was getting into the lift at NSY when he was met by a female superintendent who was already descending from the heady heights above.

On entering the lift she is said to have asked "Going down?" to which the erstwhile PC responded, "Yes, but I’d prefer a kiss & a cuddle to start with."

Apparently, it didn’t ‘go down’ too well & the officer has been stuck on and is now looking at losing his job.

It goes to prove that the higher you get, the less fun you must be seen to be having. Bet she went home and told everyone that it was actually quite funny but can use it to her advantage of climbing another rung on the greasy pole.

    that’s not very helpful.

How old is it?, weeks, months, years?
    Was it true?

Don’t know the truth as I was based at a Pol Stn in NE London at the time, but a mate, who knew someone who was in a lift at NSY once told me that about 10 yrs ago.

There wss the Met Sgt’s Board Rep who was driving back from a Fed Conference to the MPD when he was stopped by County for allaeged drink drive, pointed out the road side procedure wasn’t right, and got arrested. At the county stn saw them dip the mouthpiece in whiskey and then he was “over the limit” and would be reported. Released for summons, he got someone to drive him into the MPD and called Professional Standards. MPD breath test and blood test showed no alchol. County cops lost job etc…(late 1980′s)

thanks for the info, and there’s us thinking it was a recent thing. It seems the jungle drums take a lot longer to filter through than I thought.
