    I’m an Aussie, now living in the UK. Watching that ad was horrendous. I can watch the less hard-hitting UK campaigns without a problem, but seeing the cars, the scenery, the people, the colours of Oz brought back my old job, plus things I saw outside work.

    I was about to go to bed, but I’m going to have to go for a walk instead. Need to clear my head after that.

    Anyway, I’m pleased to see things have improved, because it used to be very, very bad. Poor car design (VW vans, shudder), poor roads, monstrous speed, and unbelievable numbers of drink drivers meant the ’70s and ’80s were gruesome on Aussie roads.

    Oh, and if you want to find out why New South Wales has been so successful in cutting crash and death rates, look up “random breath testing Australia”. Other states followed suit.
