   The closest we ever came to it was in the early 1980s when the nightshift at the local bakery would occasionally supply us with a tray of cakes.
   On this fateful night it was a dozen cream doughnuts, which would have worked out at about one and a half each.
   The plan was to come in about 4 am and have a doughnut and with a tea.
   Sods law it wa a busy night which culminated with an intruder alarm at a department store and a key holder coming from 20 minutes away. This meant we had to guard the entrances and exits and search the roof for entry points. It was a false alarm of course, but we were all 15 mins late getting off.
   At least we would have a doughnut a consolation prize – or so we thought. There was just crumbs on the tray. The station duty PC had scoffed the lot. “I thought you weren’t coming back” he said.
   A dozen cream doughnuts. I don’t think that shameful record has ever been beaten……
